The Process
How Freight Consolidation Works
Freight consolidation combines multiple smaller shipments into one full ocean container (FCL) or air freight container (ULD), delivering far better value per pound and per cubic foot than shipping piecemeal. The key to maximum savings is full cube utilization — using every cubic foot up to the container’s legal weight limit. With over 20 years in freight consolidation, GFS is expert at loading containers to their true capacity. We maintain our own fleet of tractors for drayage between our Carson warehouse and the Port of Los Angeles, and for air freight, we work with authorized agents for final delivery to LAX.
Ship Your Goods to GFS
Schedule your shipment and point your vendors to our warehouse in Carson, CA, near the Port of Los Angeles. We receive and hold Pacific-bound goods at all temps.
Build Up Cargo
GFS receives your goods and holds them at the correct temperature and conditions until your optimal container load quantity is reached.
Load Consolidated Container
We expertly load your goods into a dry, chill, or frozen container — maximizing cube or weight capacity for full container optimization.
Dray to Outbound Port
Once loaded, GFS coordinates schedules and trucks the container from our warehouse to the port terminal.
Sail
The steamship line sails from Los Angeles — typically 6 days to Oahu, 10–14 days to the Outer Islands. GFS ships on every sailing, twice weekly with both Pasha and Matson.
Final Delivery, Any Island
Refrigerated containers are drayed to our Oahu FCS; dry consolidations arrive via our partner facility at Sand Island. Either way, we contact your consignee and schedule final delivery — with final-mile capability on all islands.
